The Sandia Mountains rise to nearly 11,000 feet in elevation; this view is from Coronado Monument,
across the Rio Grande from my studio.

All afternoon the stormclouds whirled and dust flew. It seemed as if the mountains were reaching up
to entice the clouds to bless us all, but there was no rain that day to end the drought.
